              Five Year Plan for Stage East: What we are doing now and in the future!

              Accepted by the Board of Directors on April 23, 2011

              2011
              Review and revise as necessary Stage East By-Laws.
              - Decide if standing committees shall be implemented as is or revised.
              - Review and redefine as necessary the description of “membership”.
              - Review and redefine as necessary the makeup of the SE Board of Directors and Officers and their responsibilities.
              Identify current members of SE (per 2010 Annual Meeting), and increase membership by 10%.
              Identify numbers of 2010 season sponsors, show sponsors, and advertisers, and implement plan to increase sponsorship by 10% in 2012.
              - Brochures developed--February.
              - Visit owners from the list of Washington County businesses for the purpose stated above.
              Review stage and equipment for needed additions/improvements--purchase anything needed as approved by the Board (or its committee formed for this purpose). If not purchased this year, add targeted dates of purchase to the Five Year Plan.
              Appoint individual or committee to provide artistic direction:  This entity should choose next year’s plays for Board approval before the November Annual Meeting, when SE members approve the recommendations. The entity should find interested directors (and producers) as well as begin choosing a slate of plays that SE will consider for our third, fourth, and fifth year of this Plan. This entity will choose the slate with attention to diversity/variety, wide appeal, and artistic merit.
              Produce a three-play season: Summer, Fall, Christmas.
              Involve new individuals in acting, directing or technical work through outreach—two per production.
              Provide education in the following areas through workshops:

              - Stage Craft-
                           In planning process and scheduled for Summer 2011.
              Implement at least one plan to increase involvement of young people in SE productions.
              - Acting Workshop by Barbara Wilson for young people and children.
              - High school involvement: Hold some auditions at Shead.
              - Elementary school: Support Children’s Play Adventures group to come to Eastport         Elementary (2011-2012 school year).

              2012
              Plan and implement an outreach program to provide activity in churches, schools, and town celebrations to increase visibility and to encourage membership involvement and increased attendance at productions.
              - Including student cast and/or technicians, introduce one act plays at school assemblies.
              - Perform presentations, one act plays, or monologues at churches, geared to that specific audience.
              - Host a tent space, providing short plays or other theatre entertainment and/or present a float in July 4 parade or Pirates’ Festival.
                          Stage East is participating in the Pirate's Festival by doing the Trial of Anne Bonney
              Improve advertising methods for each production and SE in general.
              Identify current members of SE (per 2011 Annual Meeting), and increase membership by 10%.
              Increase advertisers or sponsors by 10% over 2011 numbers.
              Increase Season ticket holders by 10% or more over 2011 numbers.
              Produce a three-show season of plays chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Involve two new individuals per SE production in acting, directing or technical work.
              Provide educational opportunities for the community.
              - Continue workshops.
              - Provide hands-on apprentice programs for various theatre activities with each      production.
              - Provide mentors for directing and producing.
              - Provide classes taught by experienced and informed instructors. Possibly invite instructors from other areas/states to provide master classes.
              - Continue to increase involvement of young people in SE by inviting Shead High School’s Mixed Nuts to do a joint production with SE. and/or inviting Mixed Nuts to bring their production to SE/EAC.

              2013
              Continue outreach program with activities that proved successful last year. Increase outreach and advertising in surrounding areas (putting a float in other towns’ parades, visiting area schools, presenting productions in other venues).
              Identify current members of SE (per 2012 Annual Meeting), and increase membership by 10%.
              Increase advertisers or sponsors by 10% over 2012 numbers.
              Increase Season ticket holders by 20% or more over 2012 numbers.
              Produce a three-show season of plays chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Add at least one Readers’ Theatre production, also chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Involve one new person with each SE production.
              Continue providing educational opportunities--at least two per year.

              2014
              Begin effort toward becoming known as a regional theatre by pulling in more actors, directors, and audience from surrounding areas.
              -Do one joint production with another community theatre.
              - Invite guest director from another established theatre group.
              Identify current members of SE (per 2013 Annual Meeting), and increase membership by 10%.
              Increase advertisers or sponsors by 10% over 2013 numbers.
              Increase Season ticket holders by 20% or more over 2013 numbers.
              Produce a three-show season of plays chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Add at least one Readers’ Theatre production chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Involve one new person with each production.
              Continue providing educational opportunities--at least two per year.

              2015
              Increase activity toward becoming known as a regional theatre.
              - Do a joint production with another theatre company (different from 2014).
              - Take a show to one or more towns.
              - Invite a well-known theatre actor to play a part in a SE production, allowing regional  actors the opportunity to work with a guest artist. (Fee?)
              Identify current members of Stage East (per 2014 Annual Meeting), and increase membership by 10%.
              Increase advertisers or sponsors by 10% over 2014 numbers.
              Increase Season ticket holders by 20% or more over 2014 numbers.
              Produce a four-show season of plays chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Do two Readers’ Theatre productions chosen by Artistic Committee and approved by the Board.
              Involve one new person with each production.
              Continue providing educational opportunities--at least three per year.
              Review and evaluate the results of this Five Year Plan, and write one for 2016-2020.
